"My kids have participated in the Shakespeare Camp for 2 years and have loved it! I am always astonished at how much they achieve in such a short period of time. The end result (the play) is always so impressive - kids acting out Shakespeare and doing it well! It always blows me away!" Parent
We had a great 2 and 1/2 weeks learning Acting and specifically Shakespeare work. As always, we saw the kids, from ages 10 - 15, create amazing scenes in a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all.
Morning Star Productions Youth Theater Classes and Rehearsal/Performance for Tales from Shakespeare
Tales from Shakespeare is a play about two kids who have put off reading their assigned, three Shakespeare plays until the night before the test. They decide to go to the city park to be inspired by the giant statue of a book of Shakespeare which stands on the stone courtyard. As they begin to cram for the test by reading Lambs' Tales from Shakespeare, the characters they are reading about step out of the giant book and begin to bring the scenes to life. Lots of opportunity here to perform classic characters, monologues, and scenes including Puck, Juliet, Lady MacBeth, Shylock, Viola, and others. The students will learn basic acting technique - character work, creative movement, improvisation, voice work, and scene work. In addition, they will be given the tools to understand and clearly express Shakespeare's early modern English. You'd be surprised what they can do in a few weeks!
